Refinishing four kitchen butcher blocks on Southeast Hawthorne Boulevard

A neighborhood baker brought in end-grain maple prep blocks that had dried out and opened hairline seam splits after winter radiator heating. Synthetic mineral sealants dried to a brittle film that flaked off into bread dough. We prepared two 250-gram blocks of pure Oregon yellow beeswax blended with food-grade white mineral oil, along with three unbleached coarse linen buffing rags.

The warm beeswax mixture soaked deep into the end-grain capillary tubes, re-hydrating the timber fibres and sealing the seams against washwater penetration. The customer purchased the dressing pack at our counter for $28.00 and reported tight, water-repellent surfaces after a single weekend treatment.

Solid Oregon beeswax blocks for cutting boards and workbench tops

We source raw wax directly from apiaries across the Willamette Valley. The wax is melted and filtered through triple cheesecloth to remove hive particulates while preserving the natural golden honey scent and antimicrobial propolis traces. We pour each block into heavy cast moulds with our workshop crest stamped on the face.

Applied either as a dry rub followed by brisk friction buffing, or melted with pure mineral oil in a double boiler to produce a soft timber butter. Suitable for solid pine crates, end-grain butcher blocks, oiled tool handles, and cast-iron rust prevention during winter storage.

Natural three-ply jute parcel twine on turned hardwood spindle cores

Polypropylene packaging strings stretch under tension, cut into cardboard boxes, and fail to hold square knots without slipping. Our parcel twine is twisted from unbleached natural jute bast fibres into a sturdy three-ply cord with 45-pound tensile break strength.

Wound onto solid turned hardwood spool cores that fit standard counter twine dispensers or hang cleanly from an entryway wall hook. Biodegradable, compostable in garden soil, and safe for trussing scullery herbs, bundle wrapping, and securing pantry jar tags.

Supplying five dozen turned clothes pegs for a Sunnyside outdoor line

Spring-loaded plastic clothes pegs snap after two months of Oregon rainfall and sun exposure, leaving sharp plastic fragments in backyard grass. The owner of a restored Victorian home on Southeast 34th needed traditional one-piece round clothes pegs that hold heavy wet wool blankets without metal spring rust stains.

We supplied sixty turned solid birch pegs with polished slots that grip line cord firmly without crushing fabric threads. The client collected the pegs at our Irving Street desk for $16.00 in an unbleached cotton drawstring pouch.
